Aleksandar Lyubenov, MD is Head of the Department of General and Oncological Gynecology. He graduated from the Medical University of Pleven, where he obtained a specialty in obstetrics and gynaecology and completed a master’s degree in health management and public health. He holds the educational and scientific degree “Doctor of Medicine” for his work in modern hysteroscopic treatment of benign intrauterine diseases.

He has extensive experience in open, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery (hysteroscopic, laparoscopic and robotic), oncogynecology and urogynecology. Dr. Lyubenov is professionally qualified and licensed in Diagnostic and Operative Hysteroscopy in Gynecology, Diagnostic and Operative Laparoscopy in Gynecology, Colposcopy, Ultrasonography in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He is regular lecturer in postgraduate courses in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. Specialized at the University Hospital of Ljubljana in minimally invasive approaches and management of patients with uterine cancer and modern treatment of genital prolapse. He has completed the course “Hands on Training Session on da Vinci Surgical System at 20th International Workshop in da Vinci Surgery in South East Europe, 7th Bulgarian Workshop in Robotic Surgery”; certified surgeon on console of Da Vinci Xi robotic system at IRCAD – Strasbourg.

Dr Lyubenov is member of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Bulgarian Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Bulgarian Association of Gynaecological Oncology, Bulgarian Association of Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery, European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), European Association of Robotic Gynaecological Surgery (SERGS). Participant in a number of scientific forums in Bulgaria and abroad.
