Svetomir Chakarov, MDradiologist

Dr. Svetomir Chakarov, M.D., is a diagnostic imaging specialist with over 14 years of professional experience.

He graduated from the Medical University of Varna in 2011. He began his career at the “Dr. Atanas Dafovski” General Hospital in Kardzhali, and from 2012 to 2023, he worked at the Diagnostic Imaging Clinic of the “St. Marina” University Hospital in Varna, where he combined clinical, research, and teaching activities. Since August 2023, he has been part of the team at the “Heart and Brain” University Hospital in Burgas, and since 2025, he has been an assistant professor at Burgas State University.

In 2017, he completed his specialty training in Diagnostic Imaging, and in 2023, he defended his dissertation titled “The Role of CT and MR Enterocolography in the Diagnosis and Monitoring of Crohn’s Disease,” thereby earning the academic and scientific degree of “Doctor.”

His professional interests are focused on thoracic, abdominal, and musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging, with a particular emphasis on the diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory bowel diseases using ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

He performs and interprets imaging studies using all major methods—X-ray, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging—in both adults and children, adhering to current standards for accurate, reliable, and timely diagnosis. He has experience performing non-vascular interventional procedures under ultrasound and CT guidance, including diagnostic and therapeutic minimally invasive procedures.
