Maya Balabanova, MD graduated from the Medical University, Pleven in 2001. Between 2002 and 2008 she was full-time doctoral student in Pediatric Surgery; in 2010 she acquired specialty in General Surgery.
She worked as a surgeon in Montabauer, Germany in the Department of General Surgery. In 2014 she continued her professional career as a surgeon at the University Hospital, Pleven in the field of Duodeno-pancreatic surgery and as an assistant in Surgery at the University Hospital St. Marina, Pleven (2018). 2019 she started her PhD in surgery, topic: Evaluation of postoperative results in innovative methods for the treatment of hemorrhoids and prolapse THD, PPH, POPS. Since December 2021 she stated working as a surgeon at the Heart and Brain Center of Clinical Excellence in Pleven.
