Ivaylo Ganchev, MD graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 2015. In January 2016 he started working as a resident in anesthesiology and intensive care at the Clinic of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Tokuda Hospital . His professional duties there included anesthesia in general and abdominal surgery, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, vascular surgery, orthopedics, and urology, as well as intensive care for surgical and therapeutic conditions. He finished his residency in 2020.
From November 2020, he started working at the Medical Institute of the Ministry of Interior in Sofia, where he gained additional experience related to mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, and regional techniques in orthopedics and vascular surgery. In September 2023, he successfully passed the first part of the European Diploma in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care (EDAIC PART 1) exam, held in Vienna. Since October 2023, he has been part of the team at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Heart and Brain Center of Clinical Excellence in Burgas.
Dr. Ganchev has participated in a focus meeting of the European Society of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care in 2017 in Sofia. He also took part in a seminar on the management of active bleeding in Riga, Latvia, in 2018. His professional interests include anesthesia in obstetrics and abdominal surgery, as well as volume therapy for sepsis.
