Georgi Kounin, MD received a medical degree and completed his neurosurgery training from Medical University, Sofia. He has successfully passed all exams and obtain ECFMG Certificate, one of the most important requirements to practice in the USA. He also completed a fellowship in cerebrovascular and skull base surgery at University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. He has completed multiple short fellowships in Germany, France, Finland, United Kingdom, Slovenia and Italy.
He is a member of the Society of British Neurosurgeon, British Association of Spinal Neurosurgery, European Association of Neurosurgical Societies, Bulgarian Society of Neurosurgery.
Kounin’s neurosurgical expertise includes cerebrovascular disorders – aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, cavernous malformations – as well as skull base and brain tumors, pituitary tumors, degenerative spine, spinal tumors and AVM.
He has treated more than 500 brain aneurysms, cavernous malformations, arteriovenous malformations and more than 1000 operations for complex skull base tumors as meningiomas, vestibular schwannomas and pituitary adenomas.
