Ivoslav Ivanov, MD graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 2015 and began his professional journey as a specialist in 4th surgical clinic of the “N.I. Pirogov” UMBALSM – Sofia. Dr. Ivanov’s expertise lies primarily in the field of minimally invasive abdominal and thoracic surgeries. In 2021, he finished his residency in General Surgery.

In 2023, Dr. Ivanov became certified to operate with the Da Vinci robotic surgical system in Salzburg, Austria. He has undergone training programs under the guidance of world leading specialists in thoracic surgery, including Prof. Diego González Rivas, Prof. Tomaž Štupnik, MD, PhD, and Prof. Wentao Fang, M.D.

Dr. Ivanov has completed certified courses and trainings for single-port video-assisted thoracic surgery at world-renowned medical centers around the globe, including UMICS – Unidade de Cirurgia Cardiotorácica Minimamente Invasiva in Lisbon, Portugal, Klinikum Ernst von Bergmann, Health and Medical University in Potsdam, Germany, University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and Memorial Hospital in Bucharest, Romania.

In 2023, he participated in an international exchange program at the Shanghai Chest Hospital in Shanghai, China, where he improved his skills in thoracic surgery, particularly surgical procedures on the esophagus and the lungs.

In addition, Dr. Ivanov completed several courses in the field of laparoscopic surgery, laparoscopic gastric surgery, and a course in ultrasound diagnostics. His scientific contributions mainy revolve around oncological and thoracic surgery and has authored and co-authored scientific publications in Bulgarian and foreign journals, with a particular focus on emergency, thoracic, and oncological surgery.

As of January 2022, Dr. Ivanov is a part of the Thoracic Surgery Department at the ‘Heart and Brain’ Medical Center of Excellence in Burgas.
