Prof. Stefan Stefanov has been the leading specialist in the paediatrics clinic of ‘Mama and I’ since 2023. He graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1983. He obtained specialties in paediatric diseases (1989) and paediatric rheumatology (1993), as well as a qualification in joint ultrasonography.

He specialized in paediatric rheumatology in Finland, Germany and Italy. He defended his thesis on “Treatment of juvenile chronic arthritis with intra-articular administration of depocorticosteroids”. He became Associate Professor and Professor of Pediatrics in 2011 and 2018, respectively, at the Department of Pediatrics, Medical University Sofia. He is a long-standing Head of the Clinic of Rheumatology, Cardiology and Haematology of the Hospital of Pediatrics “Prof. Dr. Ivan Mitev”, Sofia.

He is a member of the International Organization of Pediatric Rheumatologists (PRINTO), the Bulgarian Pediatric Association, the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Rheumatology, the Bulgarian Medical Society of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis and the Association “Rheumatically ill child”.

With over 35 years of experience, prof. Stefanov has been recognised as one of the best doctors in Bulgaria in the field of children’s diseases.
