Kaloyan Yordanov, MD graduated from MU-Varna in 2011. After graduation he worked for 4 years in Germany, where he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology with a focus on trauma treatment, endoprosthetics and spinal surgery. From 2016 to 2020 he worked at the St. Cherkezov hospital in Sofia. In 2018 he obtained a specialty in Orthopaedics and Traumatology and then specialized in the field of special traumatology, reconstructive and spinal surgery at the University Hospital of Ulm, Aalen, Germany.
Dr. Yordanov has conducted more than 40 theoretical and practical courses, most of which are international. Among his specializations stands out a two-month specialization in the field of primary and revision arthroplasty in the world-renowned and reference for the most famous manufacturer of endoprostheses Zimmer – Endo Klinik Hamburg under the guidance of Prof. Gerke and Assoc. Prof. Chitak. He was the first Bulgarian with this specialty.
From 2017 to 2020, he was a member of the Board of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Medical Association in Veliko Tarnovo, where he took an active public position and participated as a speaker at a number of conferences related to the socially important disease osteoporosis, the modern treatment of osteoporotic fractures and the need to establish specialized departments of Orthogeriatrics. In 2018. Dr. Yordanov received the award of the Bulgarian Medical Association “You are our future” for young medical hopes of Bulgaria.
In 2020, he introduced and developed a new method in Bulgaria and the EU for the treatment of gonarthrosis and was the first in the European Union to publish the results of surgical intervention. Dr. Yordanov is the author of 3 publications in the field of orthopedics and traumatology and one in the field of abdominal surgery. Since January 2022 he is part of Dr. Petyo Bratoev’s team in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at the Heart and Brain Center of Excellence in Burgas.
