Prof. Dobrin Konstantinov is one of the leading specialists in pediatric diseases, clinical hematology and pediatric hematology and oncology in Bulgaria.
He graduated from the Medical Academy in Sofia in 1983. He started his professional and teaching career at the Scientific Institute of Pediatrics, MA-Sofia, as an assistant in the clinic of pediatric oncohematology, which was successively transformed into the National Center of Pediatric Oncohematology and the Hospital for Pediatric Oncohematological Diseases, which he headed until the center was merged into the University Hospital Queen Joanna in 2025
He holds the educational and scientific degree of Doctor of Medicine, after defending his thesis on “Cytogenetic and molecular cytogenetic characteristics of acute leukemia in children”.
He has specialized in the recognition programs in Bulgaria and has undergone training in pediatric hematology, oncohematology and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in Austria, USA and UK.
He is Chairman of the Bulgarian Medical Society of Paediatric Haematology and Oncology, Vice-Chairman of the Joint Oncology National Network. He participates in the leadership and is a member of a number of national and international scientific organizations, as well as an expert to the Ministry of Health, National Health Insurance Fund and international committees. From 2007 to 2013 he was the representative of Bulgaria in the Paediatric Group of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). He has over 100 publications in national and international scientific journals, as well as participation in national and international scientific events.
