Assoc. Prof. Hazarbasanov graduated from the Medical Academy in Sofia in 1987. He has specialties in internal medicine and cardiology, as well as additional qualifications in interventional cardiology, expert level in echocardiography – transthoracic, transesophageal and stress-Echocardiogram. In 2012, he successfully defended his thesis entitled “Study of platelet aggregation and individualization of clopidogrel dose in patients after coronary stenting”.
He has significant administrative experience – head of interventional cardiology at Lozenets University Hospital, head of cardiology departments at St. Anna University Hospital, Sofia, and SofiaMed University Hospital. He was a consultant cardiologist at Stanton Territorial Hospital, Yellowknife, SPH and VGH Vancouver, Canada, in the period 2002-2006, and Chef de clinique in Lausanne, Switzerland, in the period 2009-2010.
Assoc. Prof. Hazarbasanov is a member of the Bulgarian Society of Cardiology, the Society of Interventional Cardiology, the Bulgarian Arctic Institute, the European Society of Cardiology, the European Club of Chronic Total Occlusions. He has numerous publications in scientific journals. He is fluent in written and spoken English, French and Russian.
Assoc. Prof. Hazarbasanov became head of the cardiology department at ‘Heart and Brain’ Burgas in March 2024.
