Prof. Branimir Spasov is the Head of the Clinic of Clinical Hematology at ‘Heart and Brain’ Pleven and is among the leading specialists in clinical hematology in the country. He graduated from the Medical University of Sofia in 1996 and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree in Hematology and Blood Transfusion , as well as a specialty degree in Internal Medicine (2014), Clinical Hematology (2016) and a Master’s degree in Health Management (2016).

In the period 2004 – 2022, he was successively a full-time doctoral student, physician-in-residence, chief assistant, Head of Department and Executive Director at the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Hematological Diseases (SHALHD Sofia).

Prof. Spasov has significant experience in the treatment (including the application of targeted therapy) of a number of malignant hematological diseases such as acute and chronic leukemias, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas, myelomas, etc. His clinical interests include standard and targeted therapy of malignant hematological diseases, immuno-oncohematology, cellular immunotherapeutic approaches, personalized hematology.

He has been elected President of the Bulgarian Medical Association of Hematology since 2019 and is a member of the European Hematology Association. He has participated in a number of national and world congresses on clinical haematology. Author of more than 80 scientific publications with more than 70 citations in scientific journals and monographs.
