Assoc. Prof. Andrian Tonevvascular surgeon

Assoc. Prof. Andrian Tonev is the head of the Vascular Surgery Clinic at the “Heart and Brain” Multiprofile Hospital—a renowned specialist with many years of experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases of the arterial and venous systems.

He graduated with a medical degree from the Medical University of Sofia in 1994, completed his surgical residency in Augsburg, Germany, and subsequently earned board certifications in general and vascular surgery. He is an associate professor at the Medical University of Sofia, holds a Doctor of Medicine degree, and a Master’s degree in Health Management.

For more than two decades, Assoc. Prof. Tonev has dedicated his professional career not only to vascular surgery but also to the development of transplant medicine in Bulgaria. Since 1999, he has been actively involved in kidney transplants, and since 2013, he has led the vascular team performing the vascular phase of transplant surgeries—a contribution recognized with a certificate from the Minister of Health for his contributions to the development of transplant medicine in Bulgaria.

He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications, participates annually in prestigious European and international forums on vascular surgery, and is an active member of leading professional organizations in Bulgaria and Europe, including the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgarian National Society of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and Angiology, the Bulgarian Association of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery, the Bulgarian Surgical Society, the Bulgarian Society of Phlebology, and the European Society for Vascular Surgery.
