Vladimir Chakarov, MD is a general and thoracic surgeon and oncologist with over 30 years of experience. He graduated from the Medical Faculty of the Trakia University in Stara Zagora in 1989. He acquired specialties in general surgery and thoracic surgery in 1994 and 1997. In 2001 obtained a specialty in medical oncology.
Dr. Chakarov worked as a doctor in Krumovgrad, and until 2000 he was a senior and chief assistant at the Clinic of Thoracic Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the University of Thrace. From 2001 to 2008 he worked at the Oncodispensary of Stara Zagora, and from 2009 to 2012 he was the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at the University Hospital “Prof. Dr. St. George”. He was a member of the Stroke Unit at the University of St. Petersburg in Sofia. From 2012 to 2016 he worked in Kuwait, and then became part of the team of Uni Hospital in Panagyurishte.
He specialized in the Department of Special Thoracic Surgery and Cardiopulmonary Transplantology at AKH Hospital (Vienna), in the Thoracic Surgery Clinic at Royal Brompton and Haerfield Hospital (London), in the Thoracic Surgery and Transplantology Clinic at the University Hospital Munich.
He holds certificates in bronchology, invasive methods in bronchology, VATS (video-assisted thoracoscopy), upper endoscopy, mediastinoscopy, plastic and reconstructive surgery of the mammary gland. He is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgery (ESTS), the International Society of Cryosurgery (ISCS) and the BMA. He is fluent in English, German, Russian and Arabic.
Since 2023 Dr. Vladimir Chakarov is part of the ‘Heart and Brain’ team in Pleven.
